Nuno Correia
Nuno Correia is the Director of the NOVA LINCS (Nova Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics) research unit and a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Nuno Correia was until recently the coordinator of the PhD program in Computer Science and is the FCT NOVA coordinator of the PhD program in Digital Media (NOVA, UPorto, and U Lisboa). This program was created in the scope of the UT Austin – Portugal Digital Media partnership promoted by the Portuguese government that Nuno Correia directed. From 2017 to 2021 Nuno Correia was a member of the General Council of NOVA, the main governing body of the university. He has participated in EU-funded projects since the early nineties and recently participated in several of these projects including the H2020 project Cognitus, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) projects Weave and CultureMoves, and Erasmus Mundus CRAFT. Over the years he also evaluated national and international projects, in several programs. Ongoing work is supported through national funding and the Horizon Europe project T-Factor, and delves into diverse areas, including video archives, mobile image processing, augmented and virtual reality, multimodal interfaces for exploring art collections, and collaborative art and technology initiatives. Nuno Correia supervised 15 doctoral theses and about 85 master theses already completed and currently supervises several doctoral and master dissertations. He is the author or co-author of more than 150 publications in journals, conferences, and books. Nuno Correia is a member of the board of the NOVA Institute of Arts and Technology and co-director of a national program aimed at digitizing and virtualizing Portuguese cultural heritage.
