Armanda Rodrigues
Armanda Rodrigues is Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of NOVA School of Science and Technology, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. She is also an Integrated Researcher and part of the Steering Committee of the Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics (NOVA LINCS), as well as a member of the Multimodal Systems Group in the Laboratory. Her research interests cover mainly the creation of interactive tools, in diverse media, that use the value of the spatial context of the user and their relevant environment to improve experience. She has applied her research in the areas of Geographic Information Systems in Environmental Planning and Management, and Emergency Management, particularly in simulation related to flood situations as well as Agronomy. More recently, she has extended the applicability of her work in the areas of social involvement and cultural heritage, focusing on the use of 3D models and mixed reality to create fulfilling experiences for visitors and practitioners in cultural spaces. She has had leading roles and participated in several national and EU funded Projects such as HIDRALERTA, LXConventos, PASEV, WebPark and CRAFT. Her supervision activity has included, so far, more than 40 MSc students and 3 Doctoral students. She has collaborated with several public institutions, such as the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), the Municipality of Lisbon and ANPC, the Portuguese Civil Protection Authority. She also collaborates with other departments and faculties at UNL and, internationally, with european and foreign universities. She is part of the program committee of several scientific conferences and has reviewed papers for a variety of scientific journals. She has contributed as an evaluator to European Union funding programs (H2020).
